Down Tube Bag

Kicking Donkey's Down Tube Bag is a bikepacking bag designed to utilize an often-overlooked space: the underside of the down tube. It is a unique solution that takes advantage of a specific area of ​​your bike; compact, versatile, and rugged, it is ideal for increasing cargo capacity without interfering with your ride.

This down tube bag falls into the same category as our Frame Bags (both standard and custom models). Handcrafted in Italy, it is designed to be mounted even on frames without mounting bosses, making it compatible with a wide range of gravel, MTB, and touring bikes.

Stable mounting, even without bosses

The Down Tube Bag can be easily secured using straps, requiring no dedicated mounts.
Thanks to a special grip material sewn onto both the contact surface and the straps, the bag remains stable even on rough terrain and MTB trails.

For frames that already have mounting points, the bag features an internal HDPE structure that can be drilled and bolted directly to the frame, providing an even more secure mounting solution.

Down Tube Bag Capacity and Use

• Capacity: 1 liter (up to 1.5 liters max)
• Suitable for carrying bottles up to 1.5L (for reserve supply only)
• Ideal for repair kits, spare inner tubes, and tools
• Can also be used to carry other compact items, such as a tent that fits within the dimensions

Unlike a standard bottle cage, its position and mounting system make this bikepacking bag suitable for carrying supplies, but not for access while riding.

All materials are 4-layer laminated fabrics—waterproof and durable—suitable for intensive bikepacking use.

Compatibility and mounting notes

Important note: before mounting the Down Tube Bag, ensure that the front wheel does not touch the bag.

Waterproofing and usage notes

The bag is made from waterproof fabrics but features stitched seams rather than welded ones.

Note on waterproofing: during heavy, prolonged rain, some water droplets may penetrate through the seams.
We recommend protecting items that must remain completely dry by using internal nylon bags.
