Our frame bag featured on Life in Travel: thanks to Francesco from Cyclo Ergo Sum!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Francesco from the Cyclo Ergo Sum blog, who wrote an in-depth, enthusiastic review on Life in Travel about our custom bikepacking frame bag. Francesco is a cycle-tourist and videographer from Piedmont who never stops pedaling—and the fact that he chose one of our bags as his adventure companion fills us with pride.
A real-world test on actual roads
Francesco didn’t just take it out for a few quick test rides; our frame bag covered over 700 km with him, ranging from rides in Lombardy to the Fuerteventura Bike Trail—a 400 km gravel route. It was a rigorous trial across diverse terrains and weather conditions—exactly the kind of testing we love.
Customization: the heart of the project
For his size M Salsa Fargo, Francesco chose a full-frame bag made of purple X-PAC VX21 with a black Cordura base. It features a side pocket for small items (keys, phone, documents), a main compartment with a removable divider, and no fewer than 10 Velcro straps for frame attachment. Capacity: 6.02 liters. As we always tell our customers, the process is simple: a few photos of the frame with a reference scale, a choice of materials and colors, and a design plan to review before cutting the fabric and starting to sew.
The verdict: a resounding success
After the test, Francesco highlighted its strength, durability, and excellent zippers as key assets. He also appreciated the design philosophy: the bag is water-resistant rather than fully waterproof—a deliberate choice that allows wet gear to breathe and dry out. The only point to keep in mind—which he honestly notes—is that a bag custom-sewn for a specific frame is designed exclusively for that bike. For us, however, that is precisely the point: every bag is unique, just like the bike of the person ordering it.
