Nicola Groppi reviews the Kicking Donkey bikepacking set: “You can head out for 15 days with this”
We want to thank Nicola Groppi, who gave our complete bikepacking bag set a glowing review in his video. We were thrilled to receive this feedback, as it comes from a cyclist who actively sought out our bags and put them to the test in the real world across several different bikes.
Nicola opted for a full setup: a 17-liter saddle bag, a 5-liter frame bag, a bottle/accessory holder, and a handlebar harness with a 15-liter dry bag. The result? A bikepacking system capable—in his words—of making you self-sufficient for a trip of at least 15 days.
What impressed him most about the saddle bag was its rigidity and stability; Nicola noted that while he had used similar bags in the past, he had never found anything quite like this. The double straps under the saddle and the dual attachment points on the seatpost make it incredibly solid—so much so that, even when fully loaded, you hardly notice it’s there. Plus, the capacity is surprising.
Regarding the frame bag, he praised the zippers—calling them simply “excellent”—and the practicality of the internal divider (added at his request) for better organizing smaller items. The mounting system won him over, too: it takes less than a minute to install the bag on the frame.
One detail speaks volumes about how we work: Nicola lives just 35 km away; he contacted us via email and, in no time at all, came to visit with his bike. Roberto took the measurements, they discussed the details, and the bags were custom-made for that specific bicycle. Just the way we like it.
Thanks, Nicola—happy riding! 🤙
